Tadcaster Lineup 26/5/2009: Pickering Running Club at Tadcaster race in the York Distruict Road Race League, Summer 2009. Date: 26/5/2009Pickering Running Club lineup after Tadcaster 10K
(York District Road Race League, 2009)

Pickering Running Club is a friendly group of 50 to 60 runners from across the Ryedale area of North Yorkshire in the UK. It is a twin-based club with a club house in Malton as well as in Pickering. A weekly club training run takes place on Thursday evenings at 7:15pm and the venue generally alternates between the vicinities of Pickering and Malton.

Anyone looking for a sociable environment in which to improve their running, or even get into the local fell and road racing scene, is welcome to come along to any of these training runs, or to contact us for more information. Please also refer to the testimonials page if you have concerns about keeping up with the pace.

Triathlon Entries

As well as entering Ripon Olympic Distance on the 10th July, I have now also entered Castle Howard Olympic distance on the 25th July (a nice local event I thought). I've also entered the Beverley Sprint on the 15th August (hoping to see how much I've improved since last year? And also to support Hazel on her first Triathlon!). Anyone else up for entering Castle Howard? Think I'm the only one from the Club at present? See you all tomorrow night for that lovely Bishop Wilton HILL! And also planning to come to Mikes on Thursday night (for more HILLS!!). Caroline.

Loch Ness Marathon

I celebrate my 60th birthday on September 30th and can think of no better way of starting my 7th decade than by running a marathon - call it lack of imagination.  The Loch Ness run takes place on October 3rd and I think Nicola, Vanessa, and Garry, who all ran it last year, will join me in recommending it.  It's a downhill course, (overall), and the scenery is spectacular.  Entries are still open, but I would not hang about if you fancy joining me.       Terry

PRC 25th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

Dear All,

In the event that you haven't received an information letter about our proposals, I have included a copy below. Ideally I would like responses by Thursday 1st April to assist with forward planning. I am happy for a reply by e-mail but would need the full information asked for on the letter.

Many Thanks

Paul Marks

a very muddy weekend...

Just back from a lovely weekend in the Lakes - ran the Cartmel Sticky Toffee 10 km  Trail Run on Saturday morning - Ihr 5 mins - very wet, windy and muddy but lots of fun!

also made the mistake of driving along Windermere and now understand why Dan and Hannah are taking the whole marathon thing so seriously - the course is really very scary! Very long (it must be all of 26.2 miles!!!!) and also very hilly. Help!! I need to do lots of serious hillwork in the next few weeks...

Philly's "Virgin Half Marathon"

Well done Philly , a good time for a first Half Marathon race, more to come now you have got the taste for them.

Thursdays run in the snow

Had a really good run from Terrys on Thursday. 14 brave members set off across snow covered road, field and track to stagger back into the hot tub 9 miles and two hours later. Good one folks and thanks to Terry for the bad weather venue alternative. Regards Steve

Thursday's run

I have had enquiries from two new runners about coming this Thursday but I have told them that it has been cancelled due to the weather rather than trying to re-direct them to Terry's. It is not easy for a new runner to just turn up to a stranger's house.
