Chairman’s Report

Syd Youngson welcomed everyone to the AGM and reported on the positions of our club members in the Esk Valley Fell Runs League and the York Summer League.

Treasurer’s Report

Doug-Taylor Helps, the Treasurer, was unable to attend the meeting but sent the Treasurer’s report. The accounts showed that over the year we had gained £90 so it was proposed by Danny Gilbank to leave the subscription rates as they are and seconded by Clair Davidson. This was unanimously agreed.

Syd Youngson gave a vote of thanks to Doug and Martine for all of the work that they had done on the accounts over the last few years.

Election of Officers

It was unanimously agreed that the Secretary (David Brown), Chairman (Syd Youngson), the Coach (Steve Hampshire) and the Publicity Officer (Dan Gilbank) be elected to continue to serve in their various capacities.

Peter Winter was proposed by Syd Youngson and seconded by Clair Davidson to the post of Treasurer. He was unanimously elected.

Events for 2010

A committee was formed to look at the Club Championships. The committee comprised Nick Cousins, Vanessa Buckle, Dan Gilbank and Claire Davidson.

The club intends to enter a team for the Cleveland Way Relay. Anyone interested in running should contact Claire Davidson.

It was decided to have this year’s Christmas Dinner at the Old Lodge, Malton. Karen Loseby and Andrew Harvey are to organise.

Clair Davidson is helping to organise the inaugural Dalby Dash on 14 November. It will be 10k off road and all club members are encouraged to support this event.

A committee was formed to organise a Silver Jubilee Event to celebrate the 25 years (approximately) that the club has existed for. The committee consists of Peter Winter, Sarah Ridley, Paul Marks, Karen Loseby, Philly Hare, Vanessa Buckle, Nick Cousins and Steve Hampshire.

A vote of thanks was given to Martin Connell for setting up the new club website. A discussion took place on the blogs and photos and it was agreed that the blogs would go on to a part of the website which was only available to members. Members are asked to fill in their full details.

Claire Davidson will put an extra column on the runs’ list to show events.

Group Management and Control

It was agreed that any new starters would be looked after and if for any reason you have to leave the group you must inform someone. All running groups should have a person leading the group who ensures that everyone is accounted for.

Steve Hampshire outlined his training strategy for the year,

Q1 – build up, Q2 – Speed work, Q3 – Summer runs with more fun, Q4 – building up again.

Any Other Business

Malcolm Hadfield reported that the club skiing trip had been a success. Next year could involve two trips. One in term time and one out of term time. Anyone who is interested should contact Malcolm.

Claire Davidson is to try to provide maps for the summer country runs.

Syd Youngson is happy to organise walks of about 25 miles that would be completed in a day.

Syd will put details of these on the website.

The dates and venues for the York Summer League are as follows:

11 May – Pocklington

25 May – Easingwold

8 June – Bishop Wilton

22 June – Knavesmire

6 July – Westow

20 July – Stillington

Any names and £7 to Steve Hampshire if you wish to compete in the York Summer League.

Peter Winter suggested that we hold future meetings to review progress on various initiatives.

It will be discussed at one of these meetings in the future whether we will have a ranking system for 10km times for club members.
