Viking Chase Fell Race

The results are now in! Out of 150 runners:

49th: Nick 1:18;53

50th: Peter 1:18:53 (absolute cobblers by the way. I came in a good 20 - 30 seconds later than Nick.)

78th: Andy 1:24:15

92nd: Mick 1:26:16

115th: Lorraine 1:33:00

This was technically my first "proper" fell race. They seem to involve walking, queuing, getting wet, very muddy and ski-ing downhill. Nick's behaviour was disgraceful, overtaking me in the last mile with no concern for my feelings. As if that wasn,t enough, he then ran off with my trousers.

The Bassenthwaite Triathlon. The facts.

I could not be everywhere at once during the Bassenthwaite Triathlon, but I do know the following:

- I had a puncture before the event even started.

- someone kicked me in the face during the swim, removing my swimming goggles in the process. Thank you.

Helvellyn Tri training blog

Am now in full training for the Helvellyn Triathlon on 4th September where I'm trying to raise money for Water Aid - watch this space and hence this blog which is now linked to my Just Giving Page. Anyway:

Saturday: 14K run in heavy downpour from lastingham involving 2 "runs" up Chimney bank. Went to Martin's house to deposit all the mud, as he wouldn't notice anyway.

A couple of good eggs

Time prevented me at yesterdays meeting to nominate Andy Harvey as the PRC Dogs b...x for his sterling PR work - we seem to get a press mention now every week! Tess and Lorraine made up a little ditty about him in a tent over the weekend which they are willing to sing on demand so he is no longer an un-sung hero.

Also Lorraine as the PRC Cats' pyjamas for 1) auditing last years accounts and 2) creating a spreadsheet making the Treasurer's work easier.

cheers

Free mountain bike!!

Will give my old MTB away to any club member who wants to get started on a bike- yes free of charge! : needs new headset but otherwise sort of OK.

Offer open for say a week or so: if no-takers,  I'll then repair and flog it to some non-PRC unworthy.

cheers

Peter

A bad case of wind

My pre-planned hilarious blog theme for the Keswick Tri had to be chucked. Tess was unable to take part due to her dodgy leg and Caroline had to duck out during the bike ride due to a hypothermic moment - it was more than a little windy and rainy with 27 competitors failing to finish including some bloke who crashed into a wall. On top of this, Steve still really needs a new shoulder which clearly effected his performance, I lost my running shoes and my timing chip, and may not sire any more perfect children due to an improbable incident during the swim.

Tadcaster 10K

Quick congratulations to new members Lynn  and Kimberley  who both acheived PBs last night at Tadcaster, Kimberley only 60 minutes after joining our club. Amazing how quickly we can improve peoples performance!

cheers

Soft on crime. Soft on the causes of crime.

"So, Constable" said Inspector Hangem, peering at a yellow folder on his desk, "you say that a Rebecca Bruce started all the trouble?"

"Oh yes" said Constable Hapless eagerly. "There were several witnesses.  Sarah Ridley claims that she just happened to be on the scene by chance."

The Inspector shook his head sadly. How many prison inmates would say the same pathetic sad old story?

"Anyway" the Inspector continued, "this looks like an excellent result Constable. Affray, obstructing traffic, actions likely to cause a breach of the peace, maybe railway trespass.

For you 1/2 marathoners out there

Any disgustingly fit people who run 1/2 marathons may wish to check out http://www.fetcheveryone.com/newsletter.php?date=2010-06-18

Well, I thought it was interesting.

Dalby Dash

How the beautiful maidens of Kirby Misperton wept, as the young and dashing Nick Cousins left their village so many years ago for the long journey to the dazzling metropolis of Pickering. Now they know why, as he qualified to be the fastest local runner in the inaugural 2010 Dalby Dash. Congratulations!

Congratulations also to Tess Roebuck of Oldham, Italy who was the fastest local girl in her category.

Well done to all PRC members from far and wide - even Malton -who showed good support for Clare's very well organised race, in order of completion:
