Summer Runs

Does anyone other than me think it a good idea if we attempt to pre-book a round of sandwiches for us ready to eat in the pub after our summer runs? I've noticed some other clubs tend to do this after the 10K races, and I think pubs are generally up for it.

If so, the question is, how will we pay for them?

Also, one hesitates to bring this up because one could be volunteering oneself to take on the responsibility of organizing it; though perhaps a-another may be ready and willing to take it on?

Good idea Martin. I think

Good idea Martin.

I think the initiative depends on whether

  1. we get an organiser of the post run 'Butty Bash'
  2. we set a minimum food order paid for by the club upfront and then covered by participating members
  3. we can trial the 'Butty Bash' at the first one or two summer runs to ensure this is not a loss leader

Lets see what comment comes in along with the deluge of volunteers

Good idea in principle

Good idea in principle but..

2. we set a minimum food order paid for by the club upfront and then covered by participating members .. I don't think its a good use of club funds if there is a risk to be a loss leader as Steve suggests. How about a kitty for those interested. Not everyone can stay behind after runs................just my opinion.

 I'm inclined to agree with

I'm inclined to agree with Ian as regards using the club funds  for sarnies.I also think a kitty wouldbe better as the number of runners vary each week, O.k I know I'm not back running as yet, but I do know that not every one stays for a drink after a run.

 I think it's a good idea.

I think it's a good idea. Most see the run list and have access to the web site. So, how about those who want  to, place their orders (most pubs will do cheese, ham, salad, tomato etc) on  a forum. This will give the pub an idea of how many to cater for. They could do a few extras. I would have a kitty. The average price of the sandwiches would have to be sort to know how much to pay. Or ring the pub before the run. By Monday have choices and prices on forum. Send orders to pub by Wednesday/Thurs morn.Karen
