"So, Constable" said Inspector Hangem, peering at a yellow folder on his desk, "you say that a Rebecca Bruce started all the trouble?"
"Oh yes" said Constable Hapless eagerly. "There were several witnesses. Sarah Ridley claims that she just happened to be on the scene by chance."
The Inspector shook his head sadly. How many prison inmates would say the same pathetic sad old story?
"Anyway" the Inspector continued, "this looks like an excellent result Constable. Affray, obstructing traffic, actions likely to cause a breach of the peace, maybe railway trespass. Before we even get started. Well done, Hapless! Now, which cell are they in?"
"Er.." mumbled Hapless, looking at his shoes.
"Oh I see", said the Inspector in an annoyed tone, "bailed were they? I'll tell you what, Hapless, I am sick of these so-called Ladettes making fools of us. Make sure the press know. We don't want them saying that we gave them a pat on the back and a free lift - just the sort of nonsense I am sick of reading in the papers."
Hapless suddenly turned a ghostly white and wished the ground would swallow him up.
