Possible Change of Venue-Thursdays

I am beginning to get a little out of touch due to my current injury, although I do hope to come back at some time in the future-quite how, I am not too sure at the moment. Luckily I have found cycling gives me no pain at all.

With regard to the current issue of moving from the Pickering Recreation Club- I would not be in favour for the following reasons:_

1. It provides a warm meeting point and a social venue for members and partners. The venue is rarely full which means we always manage to get a comfortable seat. It is also a place where we can hold informal meetings although we should be aware that unless we book a room we do not have exclusive use. It is a meeting point for the community.

2. It has a bar with reduced prices compared to other venues.

3. It is reasonable secure with valuables being deposited behind the bar if required.

4. Time wise it provides flexibility in that runners can return at anytime and wait in comfort. It also provides a venue where any club runner not running that week through injury, work etc can still meet up if desired.

5.It provides a focal point for new members to find.

6. The showers are not brilliant but then I always think that our contribution of £7 (?) each is minimal.

7. I know that Pickering Leisure Centre has been suggested. I am amazed that no charge would be made for the use of this facility. I am sure that PRC would have to formally sign a letting agreement at the very least and members would need to sign in on entry. Unless there is a football match on at the Rec Club we are the only group using the changing facilities whereas at the Leisure Centre there would be multiple groups.

I could go on but you get my drift.
