More Marathons

Loch Ness Oct 2nd.  4 hours 32 min.  I enjoy this event, despite having to drive 400 miles to get to it.  The cold and misty conditions at the start formed a suitable backdrop to the pipe band that saw us off.  The weather improved during the descent to Inverness and it was sunny by the time I got here.  Former PRC member Garry Brown cheered me in at about the same spot I saw him last year.  I say each year I'll not do this one again, but it does have certain something, and I probably not be able to resist.

Chester Oct  9th.  4 hours 23 min.  This is the second running of this event, and my first time as part of it.  I can heartily recommend it.  The organizers are hoping it will be voted best regional marathon in the Runners World awards and I think they deserve it.  The event starts and finishes at the race course, which is bang in the middle of Chester.  You can park in the middle of the racecourse and do not have to register the day before.  The course is fantastic, taking in the historic town centre, and then winding through the beautiful Cheshire countryside on roads that are almost all closed to trafic.  The only downside was the inordinate length of time it took for everyone to get away in their cars.  However, that did not effect me, as I spent the time sat in my motorhome, recovering, drinking tea, and probably looking a bit smug.                                 Terry

RE: [Pickering Running Club] Comment for Blog entry: More Marath

Could everyone make sure to check start of the Gallows tomorrow, as the route start is now Levisham and not the Hole of Horcum. I will update the website, but didn’t want anyone to miss the change

RE: [Pickering Running Club] Comment for Blog entry: More Marath

Hi All

Regarding Tuesday's run.
We are still planning to meet at Horcum. The difference with the new and the old route is that now starts at Levisham village, then joins back onto the original route at Dundale pond, then returns to Levisham, adding about an extra 2 mile to the original route.

Sorry for the confusion
